Cancer Season New Moon Tarot Messages For The Signs
Right now we have the Sun, Moon, Mercury and Jupiter in the sensitive, intuitive sign of Cancer.
Jupiter, in particular, loves being in Cancer, which is one of its home signs. They are like peas in a pod, familiar friends who enjoy nothing more than contemplating the nature of life and having deep talks.
We could see blessings or luck in the areas of home, family, emotional healing and nurture. We could also be supported in starting a new project that requires us to pour our heart and soul into it.
However, we are always walking through that path of dark and light. The cosmos is often trying to teach us something a bit more nuanced. So, while Jupiter’s presence in Cancer is helpful, it’s not the full picture.
Saturn is also in the mix, and he brings with him lessons, restrictions and limits. He wants to teach through boundaries and structure. To test us to see how much we have learned from life, what we will and won’t repeat again, and to help us evolve as a soul.
Honestly, he gets a bad rap, but he’s here to help in the long run. Like a slightly disgruntled professor who won’t let you extend your deadline because he wants you to learn that in the real world, you won’t always have that benefit and need to be prepared. Harsh, but necessary to create an easier, more harmonious future.
So, Saturn is in Aries and is squaring our lovely, bountiful and generous planet Jupiter. Imagine a boxing ring, and these heavyweights are in a standoff. To me, this feels like limits on how much of our emotional energy we pour away. To jobs, people, behaviours and things that empty us a little more than we would like.
Jupiter is happy in Cancer, but Saturn isn’t so happy about visiting Aries’ house. The food is too hot, and Aries moves too quickly for this slow, Winter-loving planet. Aries makes Saturn a bit weary, which will reduce his effects slightly, but it’s still something to be mindful of.
All in all, this month could lead many of us to some profound emotional healing, especially around areas of self-respect and worth. It’s a great time to focus on filling up your cup and being extra mindful and gentle with yourself.

This is a general reading, so please bear in mind that not everything might resonate! Feel peaceful about leaving anything that is not for you.

Aries - 7 of Cups
You may find yourself contemplating a few different options, or have a bit of a busy head during this new Moon. Saturn and Neptune are both in Aries, so you might find yourself a bit torn between the practical and the spiritual aspects of life. You may have your sights set on a goal, but find that your emotional world needs tending to first. Old baggage and unhelpful patterns might be cropping up when you thought you had put them to bed. You have the power to decide where you put your attention and how you deal with your reflexes. You have many tools and the ability to make grounded, healthy choices. Trust yourself.
Taurus - 4 of Wands
This card feels like a festival to me, a party or a feeling of freedom. There is a distinct energy of “letting your hair down” and allowing the Summer sun to warm your heart. You may have felt stuck, isolated and bored. There’s no shame in allowing our body to rest when it needs it, especially if you’ve been having a hard time. But this card is asking you to pick yourself up and allow yourself to connect with others. Maybe you have already been doing this, and this could just be recognition of your efforts. Music or getting out to more events with music seems to be significant here. We often make life very serious. Sometimes it genuinely is. But for you, Taurus, now is the time to bask in the present moment.
Gemini - King of Cups
Interesting that last month you got the King of Swords, which was all about becoming the master of your thoughts. This month, the focus seems to be on your emotional world. Naturally, with so many planets in the watery, emotional realm of Cancer. If you are a Gemini rising, Cancer will be in your 2nd house (house = life area) of your livelihood, assets and things that will blossom through your efforts. You could be connecting the dots between how you make a living and what feels good to your heart and soul. Perhaps a passion project is paying off, or you are setting the wheels in motion for something new. Now is a great time to put heart-centred missions and plans into action. I’m drawn to the fish pendant on this card, so perhaps swimming/a spiritual bath could be beneficial at this time for you to gain some clarity.
Cancer - The Star
Happy Birthday, dear sweet Cancer. I love this card for you during your birthday month! The Star is the ultimate healer in the deck. She bursts in after the chaos and destruction of a Tower moment to piece things back together. This energy is very Cancerian. Someone who will swoop in to help and comfort after difficulty. The Star is deeply connected to the heavens, though she chooses to embody a spirit on the Earthly plane. You may have been called an Earth Angel at some point. Maybe you don’t resonate with that term. However, the energy you give off is that of a helper, a guide and a softness that we desperately need in the world. If you ever doubt your gifts, this is a message to say, “Keep going, the world needs your gentle touch”. Don’t forget to pull that soft focus back on yourself at times, though. You deserve healing, too.
Leo - The Devil (Reversed)
Don’t panic! Those who come to Tarot for the first time often find this card very off-putting, for obvious reasons! But this card (as with most uncomfortable things in life) is here to teach us. Upright, the Devil can speak to issues around control, unhealthy habits and behaviours that keep us stuck. I’m taking this reversal as a giant, neon sign to let go of those things. The person in this card is reaching out a hand, and attached to that hand is a marionette - someone being toyed with and manipulated. This card in reverse has literally turned this energy on its head. The hand is empty, and the person under control is free to walk away. This could be a job situation, a relationship or a behaviour - only you know what’s going on for you. Review your situation, and see if there are any small steps you can take or boundaries you can lay down to improve things. This is a reminder that you are worthy of living a happy life on your own terms.
Virgo - Ace of Wands
There is a seed of an idea growing in your mind. A creation that wants to come into the world, a spark that wants to be lit. But, dear Virgo, I know that sometimes you can worry about the outcome. Will it work? Will it be worth your time? What if it fails…what if it’s ugly or wrong? I’m a Virgo Moon, and my emotional arc has been about healing perfectionism. I understand this energy. Maybe you are considering a collaboration of some sort? Cancer is lighting up your 11th house (life area) of friendship and community, but maybe you are holding yourself back? Putting yourself out there, especially in a social setting is scary. You’re not wrong. But with the right people and the right environment, you could have so much wisdom to share and magic to make. The Mountain is You by Brianna Weist could be a good book for you at this time. Challenging your beliefs may help you move forward.
Libra - 9 of Swords
You may have experienced a dark night of the soul recently. The person in this card is depicted as having sleepless nights, too many thoughts about too many different things. This card is also here to tell you the light is coming. There is one small, white bird in the corner of this card about to swoop in. Its energy is bright and powerful. It only takes one redirection of thought to shift your focus and re-energise you. Perhaps you have been feeling tired? We get a sort of sepia lens on life when our energy is low. The perspective narrows, and we can easily find all that is wrong in the world and struggle to get motivated. Your body might want to rest- it’s probably a good time to allow it. You could change the lens on this one and see it as a purge of old energy that doesn’t serve this version of you. Maybe somatic healing would be helpful to you at this time, but go gently. There is no need to rush this process.
Scorpio - 4 of Pentacles (Reversed)
I’m sensing indecision here. You might be in a state of review. Whether that is on your life in general or something within yourself. Each sign this month seems to have a bit of an emotional challenge (thank all the Cancer energy for that one!), but ultimately it is to heal something. You may be holding on to possessions and need a good clutter clear. Feng Shui seems to be coming up for me a lot recently, perhaps so I can pass this message on. The energy our space holds is important. If the energy of the home can’t flow properly, or it feels confused or blocked, your headspace might feel similarly. Maybe this is a simple message of letting go, which seems to be a huge theme for each sign this month. Cancer is the sign of the crab, and we all know this little crustacean has those giant claws that can grab onto things with a powerful force. Ease your grip and see if choices and pathways open up more easily. You don’t have to figure it all out by yourself in one go.
Sagittarius - 6 of Wands
This card feels very Sagittarian to me. Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter, which is having a moment in one of its favourite signs, Cancer, right now. This means the planet that rules over your sense of purpose, your spirit and life force is comfortable right now. In theory, you could be feeling high-energy or, at the very least, content with things. This card reflects that sense of reward for your efforts paying off. Maybe you have been working hard on a home or garden project, and now you get to relax in refreshed energy. Maybe a project has come to a close? I keep hearing the word “completion”, so maybe something you have been waiting on for a long time is finally here. With Saturn in the background, there is a message of mindfulness around excess and over-indulgence during your celebrations, but you can afford to relax into this one; you’ve earned it!
Capricorn - 8 of Wands
You may resonate with Virgo’s message, as to me, this card also speaks to collaboration and starting new passion projects, potentially within a trusted community. This speaks to fast action, or maybe in your case, fast thoughts and ideas that come to you that you might be biding your time on. Keep a notepad or journal close by when inspiration strikes, and choose later. Right now is the idea phase. There may be a sudden flurry of activity or movement soon, after perhaps a while of things feeling a bit stuck. This can also indicate travel, moving or trying something completely new. The energy is fresh and exciting. We humans tend to feel a little apprehension during times of change but this is a fire-y summer feeling of celebration, creativity and expansive experience.
Aquarius - 5 of Cups
I’m hearing “contemplation”. Perhaps you planted a seed (literally or metaphorically) and are patiently waiting for it to sprout, maybe feeling a little frustrated at the slow progress. There is a sense of planning here. You may have been reflecting on your future, what you want to see and how you can take steps now to allow something to bloom for you later. There could be a feeling of regret here, of placing pressure on yourself and berating yourself for not having it figured out already. Hindsight can be incredibly annoying at times, let’s be honest. But we learn and grow as we go. You couldn’t have done anything differently because you were working with the information, resources and emotional capacity you had at the time. We are all winging it in life. Let yourself dwell for a bit and feel your emotions, but try not to internalise failure. It’s not a reflection on you as a person but a natural part of existing as a human being. Then, when you are ready, dust yourself off and try again.
Pisces - Ace of Pentacles (Reversed)
You are trying to put down roots or grow something, but perhaps it is starting to feel a bit draining? It might be testing your patience, resources and capacity right now. You could be feeling burnt out and like you need a rest. If you are able, absolutely take that rest. Many of us feel that resting or slowing down means losing progress, especially if you are self-employed or trying to grow in your career. We feel like we have to be doing the most, all of the time, to keep up. You are also a water Sign, Pisces, along with your sister sign, Cancer, where lots of planetary energy is right now. Lean in to the messages of this season to fill up your cup, release your grip just a little and allow things to flow more easily. Pisces energy does not thrive being rushed. Where can you find little pockets of time to just sit? Even for 5 minutes with a morning coffee, without any stimulation other than listening to the world around you and just being. Then, you can get back to creating your dream.
Phew! We are really going through some deep healing collectively right now. It’s both beautiful and difficult - but that’s the energy of Cancer. It’s life itself. If any of these messages resonated, you can book a reading with me to investigate these themes further and see what else the cards have to say.
